No Procceedings were published for the first PSA Biennial Meeting in 1968. For the 1970, 1972 and 1974 meetings the Proceedings were published in single volumes by D. Reidel. PSA members andmany libraries found these volumes too costly to purchase. To remedy this PSA decided to publish the Proceedings in two Volumes — Volume One being the contributed papers and published in advance of the meeting while Volume Two was the symposia and published after the meeting. These volumes were produced from camera-ready copy eliminating the cost of type setting and as PSA was serving as publisher any profit, if there were any, would go to PSA and not a commercial publisher. Originally, these volumes were edited by the Program Committee Chair and the Executive Secretary of the Association. In 1986 the editing was separated from the Executive Secretary’s duties with the editing being done by the Program Committee Chair and a PSA Proceedings editor. By 1996 word processing had become sufficiently widely adopted so that digital copies could be submiited to a printer who could utilize the digital copies to directly set type. At that point printing of the Proceedings was folded into the journal Philosophy of Science.

PSA also utilized camera-ready copy to produce Current Research in Philosophy of Science and Studies in the Foundations of Quantum Mechanics.
