The idea for the PSA Newsletter originated in a letter from Peter Asquith to Adolf Grunbaum in 1969.  Prior to the creation of the Newsletter “News and Notices” were regularly published in Philosophy of Science. Other news items could be included in election mailings. The initial Newsletter was published in 1971 and was several typewritten pages. Gradually, the Newsletter expanded in size and became a booklet in 1977. At this point the Newsletter regularly contained PSA news, news regarding related societies, funding agency information, conferences, lecture series, information on the contents of most journals in the various areas of science studies. Thus, they represent a general overview of the state of science and technology studies from the mid-1970’s through 1990. In the 1990s the switch was made to providing the news in a digital format.
